Matthew Proctor WASP, born 1837, Plymouth, Devon
« on: Tuesday 05 February 19 15:01 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

This gentleman (soldier) married Margaret DENTON in the Cape of Good Hope probably in the 1860's....she had been born there.   Can someone please provide chapter and verse about the wedding, if at all possible.

Thank you,

BAC3

Thank you JJ......the information I needed.

I am a little confused, however, about the bride's maiden name, I understand it was DENTON, and in fact the couple's first child in 1866 was named Margaret Denton WASP!

On the other hand Matthew Proctor WASP, too, is proving extremely difficult to document properly. I have still been unable to discover the missing details of his early army career, from enlistment to about the early 1870's??   This despite reviewing every entry on FindMyPast and Ancestry.

Hello JJ,

I thought I would let you know that the four WASP children born in the UK all showed the mother's maiden name as "SMITH" according to the GRO 8) 8)
