He was seemingly UNFIT for Army marching around and sent off to the Paras... as per this bit..

He died in Leicester. There is nothing to suggest that he was taken back into the army after his 1942 discharge.

The reference to Para 390 (xvi) is to the paragraph of Kings Regulations that covered his discharge.

oh crikey   regarding his death... ???  why is he on the memorial then??  maybe he was gassed and came back to die...  oh flip may have to send off for his docs...

Poison gas wasn't used in combat in WW2.  He may well have been seriously wounded though.

Not following - the mothers initials are A L (Hackett) and the address given was 20 Repton Street

I found a record of him with a mother A.L Hackett and father in Repton Street will check it out again :)
