Clive Campbell & Cora Sergeant Penny
« on: Wednesday 06 February 19 17:51 GMT (UK) »
Is there a Parish Church in Lincolnshire  for Clu or Clee at the time of 1932, re marriage of Clive Campbell & Cora Sergeant Penny. They both gave their addres as 25 Milkin or Millin Ave, Grimsby.
The writting is not very good on the certificate.  I know Cora remarried again in 1943 and is now desceased. She died in Grinsby.  Clive Campbell could have been a bigamist.

If you bought the marriage cert from the GRO you can ask them for a more legible copy

The 1943 marriage was as Penny and she is on the 1939 register as Penny - single

Have you looked for a divorce etc?

According to Genuki -- there is a 'Clee' Burial Board in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. Maybe the church was in Cleethorpes. Possibly it's a local term for the town (I'm not from Lincolnshire or might know!).

https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LIN/Cleethorpes

and look under the cemeteries heading.

In addition under the parishes and towns in Lincolnshire -- there is 'Clee' -- but when you click this you are taken to Cleethorpes.
West Yorks; ---- Illingworth, Marshall, Muffit/Muffett/Murfitt, Barber, Sanderson, Townend, Barraclough, Lister -- and lots more. Locations mainly in Birstall parish - Hartshead-- Drighlington --Adwalton --Mirfield - Heckmondwike --Kippax - Sherburn in Elmet.

Ireland ------Cleary, Whelan - Nenagh.
Dowling - Monasterevin
Daly - Westmeath

Lancashire ---- Smith from Alston , Johnson and Fairclough---- Tarleton and loads more from Tarleton and Accrington areas.

Her address in 39 was Clee Road, which is Old Clee, Cleethorpes.
