Sadly we haven't found an obituary for Joan who passed away (probably 1990's) a short time before Alex. In reply 60 I speculate that the red markings next to the name of Maurice in 1951 may have been NHS references, so I strongly think that was the case and something may have happened to Maurice in 1951.  Apparently there are lots of references on the 1939 records that we might never know what they refer to.

Received a lovely message from Canada with background info on the Bura family which I will pass to Xinia.  Would like to take the opportunity to thank the lady in Canada for the time she has spent trying to help us out on this one.  Thanks also to RK for the help with obituaries etc.,

I'm sure if anyone finds anything else on Joan or Maurice it will be added here at some stage but for now we have drawn a blank.

Good morning - I was just sent a link to this site - you are discussing my Uncle Alex and Aunt Joan, late of Toronto, Ontario.

Can I be of assistance?

TBura

Hello  Tbura  :)

As you can see this post was last accessed by me in February :)

so I have to go through all notes again to catch up... and see where we are and if there is a DNA/ close link ---

It is great that you found it and that we may be related... have you a tree on Ancestry???

You will have to put up a couple more posts ---- to allow the private message service to work and then we can fill in more details maybe

luvly to virtually meet u

I have no Ancestry page, and Aunt Joan was an Aunt by marriage - my Uncle Alex was my father's brother.

I grew up visiting them in Scarborough and at my grandfather's house, and they visited my family in Ottawa. We also were close to the Mackie's, Aunt Joan's family.

I can get any info that you need on Aunt Joan, the Mackie's or others by asking my mom who would know more than I as she knew all of them from the day they arrived in Toronto until they passed away...

Aunt Joan was a lovely and gracious person - we all loved and respected her a great deal and she talked frequently about her family and the years spent in England...

Well had a little time to search and go through my stuff.... :)   Your Aunt Joan --- is my relation albeit not close ....

she would have been my 4th cousin x 2 rmvd on my Patrick side.

I have her Father as Charles Patrick.

I remember this being an intriquing search at the time ----  and I do like to complete as much as I can.   I never found sufficient details on your Aunts Eldest son Maurice.. although I did find plenty on Renee the daughter that married into the Mackie family.

I will finish going through my bits and pieces tomorrow and get back to you.
