SWITZERLAND: John Baptiste LOMBARDINI

Hi all,

I have a possible ancestor, a John Baptiste Lombardini who lived in Huddersfield, Yorkshire until his death in 1856.
The 1841 England census has him being born in foreign parts and the 1851 Census has his place of birth being listed in Switzerland.
Unfortunately I have no more information about where in Switzerland he was born, and I'm trying to find as much info as I can so I can find the name of his father and mother.
He was born in approx. 1785.

In 1841 he is living with a possible brother William Lombardini  age 35 also born in Foreign Parts.   In 1851 and 1861 William is listed as born in Italy   

William marries Frances Maria Percy in 1843 in Huddersfield.   I can't see the marriage online at the moment but an Anc tree lists his father as Bernardo Camillo Lombardini

Hi Kay,

Yes that would be my ancestry tree. I put it there so I could search for records but nothing has emerged yet. My ancestor William has a father called Bermarito/Bernardo/Bernardito (I have William’s marriage cert but can’t really make out the name).
I’ve looked at all the censuses, directories and nothing has come up- except that John Baptiste was in business with a man named Bernardo Camillo Lombardini until 1825.

That’s why I’m looking for John Baptiste’s birth record to see if there is a connection.
