R.Albert Asylum Query
« on: Thursday 07 February 19 17:14 GMT (UK) »
Bit of a long shot but maybe others have come across this!

My ancestor was admitted to the R.Albert Asylum for the last two years of her life but was born in Spital Berkshire and died in Sevenoaks Kent. As far as I can see, R.Albert = Royal Albert and is in Lancaster. Logistically in the late 1800's, would this have happened?

Surely if she died in the aslym thats where the death would have been registered?

Admittedly this OPENED in 1890 so would be too late to be your ancestors location but there was a Royal Albert Dock Hospital in Greenwich - I wonder if that was on the site  maybe

I'm not saying she wasn't in the Royal Albert in Lancaster just something isn't quite adding up

I checked another person who was listed as being in R Albert at same time and died there - he's buried in Toxeth - and death recorded as Lancaster

The Mary Emmerson who died aged 37 in Sevenoaks is registered in the Dec quarter - would that fit with a death in June?
