Thank you all for your input on Robert and Euphemia.
Most of the emails confirm what I had already and that the information on quite a few of the Trees on Ancestry is incorrect. So it's good to know we're all in agreement.
But the new and most interesting find is from PB as this led me to his mothers name as Isabella Little
which I have suspected, but unable to prove for the last 10 years. Thank you so much.
That is what I have been waiting for.
BUT there is another puzzle - he has put himself down as coming from Cromerty in Scotland but there are no Roberts or any children born to a John A* & Isabel Little from there.
I had already narrowed him down to Dumfrieshire - even though his birth date is in 1826. But I have other pointers that it is most likely him.
I have been doing my research in association with the Armstrong Clan Association who have a vast database of Armstrongs.
I had suspected him as being the one in the 1841 Census at Barrascroft Outhouse and the one in the 1851 Census with the Slacks. Then he fell off the radar in the Census's.
The problem is he has only just come back on the radar again recently first in Canada then in the US through my DNA being a strong match with many, who have also done their DNA and have him in their trees.
I am descended from him through my Gt Grandmother. She was born illegitimately in 1855. Both her parents were farm servants at a farm called Orchard in Canonbie at the time.
I am wondering if the birth difference was because he was away from home at an early age and didn't know his age and saying he was born in Cromerty defected away from him having an illegitimate child in Canonbie. But then that is just supposition!
I would still like to have a copy of the original marriage entry as even on the Site PB has given me the marriage date is different by 18 months to the Waterloo Generations Site.
Thank you all very much.
I am sure, as I suspected he is the son of the John A* & Isabella Little, born at Priorhill in 1826.
