I am trying to work out what is going on in the photo - just for interest.     :-\ :-\

What is in front of her knees - the back end of an animal?  -  a pile of wool has been suggested?  I can't work it out at all.

The woman is mending fishing nets

This was a common task by fisherman’s wife’s and female family members around the coastline in the fishing community
