No I'm not an archivist, just someone who has been doing family history since 2004.  I don't claim to be an expert by any means.  ::)

Hi arwela, welcome to Rootschat.
Margaret is in my tree as daughter of David Thomas Ambrose (Occupation; Carpenter) born before 19th Feb 1787 at Llanfynnydd and died before 10th April 1867 at "Court Henry Mountain" Llanegwad and his wife Anne (nee Davies) born about 1790 at Llanegwad, married 15th May 1815 at Llanegwad and died before 21st December 1870 at Llanegwad.

I have a daughter Anne Ambrose for Margaret Ambrose, born before 7th Feb 1840 at "Pantyblodau" Llanegwad and died before 13th Feb 1840 at "Cwmdyllan" Llanegwad.

Margaret married Thomas Anthony 8th August 1842.
Margaret was one of 6 children but as she is not in my direct line (her sister Elizabeth is my direct ancestor), I haven't looked into her any further.

Hope that helps a bit.

B.  :)

Where we are really stuck is with Jacob Anthony, born 1881, Llanegwad and died July 19, 1951. Looking for his father. All Llanegwad censuses show his mother Elizabeth as single. No trace of him.

Thanks for all your help, it's helped to extend the tree another generation.

For what it is worth, Jacob's birth registration

ANTHONY, JACOB       -
GRO Reference: 1881  J Quarter in LLANDILOFAWR  Volume 11A  Page 856

No mother's maiden name which, as you already know, indicates an illegitimate birth.

I see that Elizabeth was with her parents in the 1881 census so no help from that.  You could try looking for a Bastardy Bond or Order in connection with Jacob but no guarantee that you will find one.

I gave you Elizabeth's birth registration at Reply #8.  You would need to obtain her birth certificate to get the full details of that.

I would go with the 1928 death registration as that is closest to her in age and birth year.

Now looking for Margaret Ambrose's mother-in-law, in other words Thomas Anthony's mother. Her husband is Thomas David Anthony.
