Ale House at Mentmore

On the Wikipedia page for Mentmore, Buckinghamshire it shows a photo of an old ale house which dates to the 16th century. It says the Varney family lived there, and records at the Records Office, Aylesbury show the Varney's paid 2s a year rent sent to the church, and the family provided ale and meat from their pigs to the local community.
Can anyone verify this please?

1853 Kelly's directory
Richard Varney butcher and beer retailer.
The other alcohol related one is the Stag's Head William Roffey so not the same place.
1864 Kelly's he's still there.
1847 beer retailer R Varney  PO directory
He's on the Poll books from 1831.

1871 he's resident at the Beer House
Richard Varney 78 widower butcher Mentmore
William son 49 butcher
Betsey 38 daughter widow

He died in 1874.

Richard and his wife Susanna Wilks were baptists and their children are all registered at the independent chapel at Wingrave
It looks like son William took over the business and remained at the same address.

Burial - 31 Oct 1874.  Richard VARNEY aged 82 of Cheddington.

The Stag, was owned by Baron Rothchild of Mentmore, according to 1872 Beer House list.

The Wikipedia entry for the building contains some errors. It is a listed building and the listed building entry notes that it was originally late 18th/early 19th century but was renovated in 1876.
There is a plaque on one of the chimneys "H de R 1876" i.e. Hannah de Rothschild, then the owner of the grand Mentmore Towers. She built many new estate cottages in Mentmore and surrounding villages for workers on the Rothschild estates and also renovated some older buildings in the same mock tudor style including this one.
The 1851 Tithe Award for Mentmore shows it was then owned by Richard Varney who was also the occupier along with several others.
