 :) Yes,  and the holdings in so many of our states based public institutions too ... not just the digitised versions of some of the archival records that are made available to the commercial websites, these are significant of course, but there's so much more that is conserved and on shelving in controlled climate buildings just waiting to be called up, and read for the first time in decades ...

Perhaps one day someone will find the time to put together a 'brief' on the who, what, when, where, why and how to look for on the richness of family history in the various archives right around our continent.
