Thanks magm, I will follow this up when I get a chance. Not sure why I typed that number as I know it is NX11278.  A big typo mistake on my part.  Thanks for your help.

According to the nominal roll he served with 2/12 Infantry Battalion.

You might like to search them for some general information while you wait for his records.

Heale/Hale - Keynsham, Somerset
Vincent - Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.  Moved to Sculcoates, Yorkshire; Grass Valley, California; Timaru, New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.

So much for sending you to the new site they keep telling us to use.

Try here:

Yes  some of those newer website thingys/resources can be .....well ... not the full quid ..... it seems they can sometimes be something called  'apps' ...  apparently that is short for applications .....

Thanks for that majm,  It is part of the frustration of research.  All is great though when you find what you are looking for.
Now on to where his battalion was and what battles they fought.  Any ideas of where to find this?
thanks for your help

2/12 Batt

https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/U56055  ...... including
 AWM52/8/3/12: 2/12th Battalion war diary

https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C1361028  ... very detailed,  you will spend hours and hours in armchair reading almost daily reports for the Battalion from Dec 1939 until December 1945.  Digitisation via the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, funded by Australian taxpayers and private donations, and provided at no charge to the world.
