I have just found out that the marriage certificate shows Robert's father to be John Williams, Labourer.

I have done a place search for Robert Williams in the 1861 census for Llangelynin. There is no trace of him there, or any of his family. I have also done a place search for District 1 of Conwy in 1861. This was unsuccessful as well.

Thank you, Rosie99. Is it possible to let me have the other details on the marriage certificate please?

I am about to do a place search for District 2 of Conwy in the 1861 census. Here's hoping!

Jo.

The place search for Conwy, District 2, has two households with John Williams as the head of household. Both of these could be the father of Robert, and one has Elizabeth as his wife. There is no trace of Robert Williams in either of these households.

Just to advise that Robert Williams has been located in both the census returns for 1861 and 1871.
