Newbie here! I’m trying to tracing the history of my GG-Grandparents who lived in warrington but I’ve hit a brick wall and am struggling to narrow down the information.
My GG-grandparents were
John Mullins
Martha Cotton
I have no living relatives who can give me any details on them, and so firstly i am not 100% sure of the dates.
I believe John was born in 1874 (location unknown, presume Warrington) and died in 1940 (possibly buried near Liverpool?)
I believe Martha was born in 1880 in Warrington and died 1907 in Warrington
They had a son called Joseph (my Great Grandad) who was born 1903 (Warrington?? ) and died in 1984 in Warrington
He married Lily Lester born 1903 in Warrington, and died 1995 in Warrington.
I believe John and Martha also has another son who was born in 1900 and died when he was 2.
John and Martha are on the 1901 census, married and living at birchall street, Croft, Warrington
John and his son Joseph are then on the 1911 census, boarding with another family at 32 manchester road, Warrington - John is now widowed.
I cannot find any promising marriage records for John and Martha. I know Martha’s father was called John Cotton, but I do not know the details for John Mullins parents. This is where I am hitting a brick wall. I would love to find out more info on John Mullin prior to be married - specifically his parents, any siblings he may have had etc
I have tried looking for the GRO for John Mullins birth to find a MMN but there are too many options and I don’t know which is correct.
Can anyone help, or point me in the direction of where to look/how to narrow down the info.
