Samuel Burgess
« on: Saturday 16 February 19 12:41 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace my ancestors.  Samuel Burgess, born in Belchford, Lincolnshire, about 1873, died 1944 in Dewsbury, West Riding of Yorkshire. Samuel was my Great Grandfather and I would love to find out more about him. Can anyone help, please?

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Whom did he marry?  You might want to look him up in the 1939 Register for an exact birthdate to give you the foundations for your further research.

Welcome to rootschat, Joeysm.

Do you have access to any subscription sites, and do you know of freebmd and IGI?

Yes, he is the Samuel Burgess, buried at St.Pauls, Hanging Heaton.  I believe he was married twice; his first wife was Maria Kirk (died 1898 age 28), second wife, Mary Jane (born Dewsbury 1859, died 1930).
Thank you for your replies.
