Alice Redhead (nee Woodward? I think?)
« on: Saturday 16 February 19 14:37 GMT (UK) »
I'm tying myself in knots trying to find where Alice Redhead came from. I have a birth date of 8.5.1866 from family, but can't find a birth record for that date, she was born in Worksop/or E Retford/ or Ratcliff?. I think I have her living with her aunt Hannah Webster (nee Woodward?) in 1871, Hannah is a widow, I thing Alice's mum (Mary?) died in 1867, her father (Samuel?) has gone to work and live on a farm. Alice next appears in service at the age of 25 in a vicarage. After that she marries James Redhead, lives in Rotherham and has my Grandmother Ethel Mary in 1897. She is widowed in 1910. I can't find a record of the marriage, I do have a record of her husbands death. Could anybody possibly varify or help with any of this?. Thanks in advance.

her father (Samuel?) has gone to work and live on a farm.

Alice's marriage does name her father as Samuel Woodward occ Farm Labourer. One of the witnesses was a William Woodward

Thankyou both very much, you have my full appreciation and admiration. It looks like the 1865 Worksop birth is the one, I guess my family got the date wrong. I also have a brother for Samuel called William, so that fits.
Rosie, do you have the reference for Alice's marriage, I can't find that.
Thanks again.
