Lost my grandfather
« on: Saturday 16 February 19 16:18 GMT (UK) »
My grandfather was Nathaniel Henry Fisher born 2 Feb 1880 at 2 Edmond Place, Nelson St, off Long Lane, Bermondsey. His father died 1882 and in 1883 he was put in South Metropolitan District School age 3, was released 18 Mar 1895 age 15, he was in and out of various institutions described as destitute. He was last discharged from Church Army Home, Spitalfields (Spital Sq?) on 13 Apr 1897 age 17. It is here I loose him until he gets married on 24 Dec 1916 at Christchurch, Parkers Row/Abbey St. Bermondsey. He was an Hospital Porter at St.Olave's Hospital. He does not appear to be on 1901/1911 census. Family information says he suffered from bronchial asthma so he would have not joined the army, but you never know. Any Information welcome. Thanks.

Don't want to be the wet blanket here - but he may have been listed by initials only in 1901/1911 if he was in certain types of institution or may have missed enumeration - by accident of deliberately.  Or may have been known as Henry....
