Date for this photo of my grandmother Marie and her 8 sisters please
« on: Sunday 17 February 19 01:52 GMT (UK) »
I would be really grateful if someone could give me a date for this photo of my grandmother Marie and her eight sisters. Marie (front row, wearing the hat), was born in June 1900, and was the 2nd to youngest daughter, Constance (back row, wearing the white hat), born 1886, was the oldest. The 2nd pic is the back of the photo. It gives the date the photo was taken as Feb 11, but no year. The photo was probably taken at the family home in Southland, New Zealand. The younger girls in the front row may be wearing a (Catholic school) uniform though they don't look like any uniforms I can find of that era. Any help appreciated.

Certainly late war would be the start date but could easily be into the v. early 20's.
So 1917-21 I would suggest.

Jim1 and Creasegirl, Many thanks to you both. My grandmother looks quite young here so Im thinking probably more likely during WW1, rather than the 1920's. Jim1 What makes you say late WW1?

The woman at right back is the most fashionable & her hat & blouse style is typical of late war to early 20's.

Do you know who took the photograph?

Would they be wearing a uniform of some sort with the ties and badges? Two are in a pinafore type dress. This looks vaguely uniform like. The sister on far right on front row looks to be wearing a serge? school uniform with a crest or such on the neckline. Did they go to a boarding school or secondary school nearby?

Your Grandmother looks to be about 14 or so?
