Rebecca Stuart 1710 b. possibly Scotland - d. abt 1783 Virginia, USA
« on: Sunday 17 February 19 21:22 GMT (UK) »
Looking for information on Rebecca Stuart  1710  - 1783, m. 1726 John McClung in Virginia, USA. Legend has it that Rebecca came to America approx 1726 with brother Archibald Stuart via Ireland and that her family is related to the Stuarts of James I time frame - I have found no proof that Archibald was her brother, except that they resided/died in the same county in Virginia. There is a huge possibility of the legend being true, but have not found any hard evidence proving this. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean James I of Scotland, or James VI of Scotland who later became James I of England?

James I reigned 1406-1437.
James IV reigned 1488-1513.
James VI reigned 1567-1625, and also 1603-1625 as James I of England.
