Hi, I have records for Alfred William BAX.1881 census list birth 1855 Clapham, Surrey.1911 census list birth1853 Brixton,Surrey.His death certificate registers date 4th April 1915,Bromley.He is married twice. Charlotte Ellen Sweetlove, 23rd December 1877,Bromley(dec. 25 Aug. 1891).Clara Elizabeth Canfield 4th July 1892,Bromley.His fathers name is also Alfred William Bax.I cannot find a birth record for the first A.W.BAX and a death certificate C.E.Canfield.I have many other more recent BAX records if any one else is interested.Can you help?

I'm not finding anything that looks like Alfred's (1855) birth record.  He may not have had his birth registered.  I think I am right in saying that it wasn't compulsory to register a birth until 1874.  Even after that there are those that managed not to be registered.

I cannot find Alfred in the 1861 census.  He either got missed off or has been wildly mis-transcribed.

Have you got his mothers maiden name to check for births?  He may be under William Alfred for example but if Girl Guide hasn't found him then he must be missing. 
I have a missing one born 1864 so it does happen. 

When did his parents marry - could he be under mums name?

I cannot find a birth record for the first A.W.BAX and a death certificate C.E.Canfield.

The first record on the GRO index to show as Alfred William Bax was Alfred juniors marriage in 1877.

There is no apparent death for his father using both first names

1871 census has place of birth as Lambeth and mother as Louisa

1871 census has William R Basting ( according to Ancestry ) born 1832 Clapham as brother to Louisa Bax. The correct  surname appears to be Belding. See 1851 census :
HO107; Piece: 1576; Folio: 32; Page: 8;

Registration for Alfred William Bax as Alfred William Bax Belding 2Q 1855 Lambeth 1D 317 &
sister Louisa Bax as Emma Louisa Belding 3Q 1858 Lambeth 1D 309.

No Bax / Belding marriage found.
