James Jackson Rowley Regis @1790
« on: Monday 18 February 19 20:19 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the birth and parents of this ancestor.

I know that he married a Jane Williams in Rowley Regis in 1811.

They had several children all born around Dudley.

Looking for possible births for him, any suggestions as to parish records I could try?

It would help the search if you posted all you know

Children
William 1820
John 1814
Mary 1822
Sarah 1818
Mary Ann 1826
Susana 1815
Comfort 1811

Have you found James and Jane on any of the census? do you have any dates of death for them?

If they stayed in the same area there is a death of a James Jackson 1842 aged 65 which would give us a birth year of c1777

He is living with a James Jackson aged 31 and his wife on the 1841 census

You may know some of the following but it might help others.

James Jackson to Jane Williams
Marriage 25/02/1811 Rowley Regis, Staffordshire

Freereg: Baptisms St. Thomas, Dudley, abode Dudley

(James a Plumber and Glazier on one but mainly Glazier)

John 1814
Susannah 1815
Sarah 1818
William 1820
Mary 1822
Mary Ann Jackson 1826

A William Jackson also a Glazier.
Several other Jackson baptisms various parents including at least one more James

Possible Baptisms?
Jane Williams23 Mar 1788 Saint Thomas, Dudley, Parents William Williams & Ann

James Jackson   8 Nov 1778   Dudley, Worcester, England   Edward.Sarah
James Jackson   1 Aug 1784   Dudley, Worcester, England   Thomas,Hannah
James Jackson   30 Jan 1785   Saint Thomas,Dudley,Worcester   Edward,Elizabeth

Sarah 1818 married John Hyde 24 May 1847, father noted as James Jackson, Glazier deceased.

Possible Burial for James St Thomas Dudley, this might be the first baptism above?

James Jackson, abode Dudley, age 68 died 2 Oct burial 6 Oct 1842 (born 1776)

However no trace of any census for James or Jane and no suitable statutory death, I suspect they may have died before 1837?

I note that comfort was born in Old Swinford, so if James & Jane were living there before they moved to Dudley, there are possible baptisms for Jane.

Jane Williams 26 Feb 1786 Old Swinford, Worcester Thomas, Ann

Jane Williams 24 Aug 1794 Old Swinford, Worcester  George, Mary

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Thanks Willow and Colc

I'm never sure how much information to give but I only had James wedding date and place.

I had all the children, I am descended from John.

Think James was a painter and glazier.

Also understood Jane Williams to be daughter of William Williams and Ann Price.

I'll look at all the options for James.

I have some documents relating to potential nephews, nieces and cousins for him but having real trouble tying any of them together.

What are the details of the William the glazier?

Where did you find the three possible baptisms for James?

Willow I'll look at that census as well.

Thanks this is very interesting and could tie two of my branches together. I am thinking William could be brother to my James, now trying to prove it.

Also trying to work out what became of his son George whose baptism you mention above.
