William and Leaden Wood
« on: Monday 18 February 19 22:04 GMT (UK) »
These are the parents of Robert Wood from my previous post. They are on the 1841:

William Wood b1776
Leaden b1786
Robert b1826
William b1827

piece472 book19 folio33

Im particularly intrested in finding out who Leaden was. There is a marriage in Faversham 10th June 1833 for William Wood and Eden Terry, but it seems a bit late. And theres nothing in the deaths that bears this out.I cant find anything concrete after 1841.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

This could be William's death reference you would need to buy the certificate or PDF to see what it says

WOOD, WILLIAM     Aged 71
GRO Reference: 1846  June Quarter in FAVERSHAM UNION  Volume 05  Page 121

and Eden's

WOOD, EDEN     Aged 68
GRO Reference: 1856  S Quarter in FAVERSHAM  Volume 02A  Page 343
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Thanks.Thats certainly a strong possibility. Its about right age wise. Can you see anything that resembles the name Leaden? It might not be that, its not very clear on the image so it might be mistranscribed.
Ive had a look on FamilySearch for Robert Woods birth in Canterbury or Faversham, but theres nothing with a mother that resembles Leaden.

Thanks again.

Yes I think the name should be Eden although as you say on the 41 it looks like Leaden. In theory she should be on the 51 but I did not find her.

I think she is possibly not the mother of Robert and William

I couldn't find her either.I did a broad search for Edens and similar in Kent and could find nothing.
What makes you think Robert and William might not be hers?

'Leaden' could have been a second wife of William and not the mother of Robert.

In 1841 Robert is 15 (age rounded down) and a brother William 14.

Robert Wood bp.4/7/1824 Canterbury, son of William and Elizabeth
William Wood bp.18/6/1826 Canterbury, son of William and Elizabeth.

A William Wood married Elizabeth Woodman 13/4/1810 Canterbury - at least 4 other children baptised before Robert and William:

Elizabeth bp.28/3/1813 Canterbury
Susan bp.21/5/1815 Canterbury
John bp.9/11/1817 Canterbury
Ann bp.16/1/1820 Canterbury

William's occupation Chimney Sweeper.

An Elizabeth Wood 39 yrs old (bc.1788) bur.27/5/1827 Canterbury may be the wife of William.

Many thanks for all this.Im thinking also that its possible that she wasn't necessarily Eden or Leaden Terry by birth,it could have been a second marriage for her too.
