Sarah Ann Fenton born about 1830
« on: Tuesday 19 February 19 09:48 GMT (UK) »
I am beginning to doubt some of the information that I have.

Here is what I have confirmed

Marriage Certificate

Married 12 November 1852 in the parish of  St James Sutton in the Country of York.  Married Thomas Edwards. 22 years old, Spinster, Residence Stoneferry Father Edward Fenton, Seed Crusher Witnesses: Mary Ann Starkey and David Starkey

I am trying to bind a birth.  I have her parents as Edward Fenton and Mary Lowell.  I am not convinced this is correct

1871 Census

Born Hull, Yorkshire England

1841 census has an Edward Fenton a Mariner born 1806, wife Mary and 4 children including Sarah born 1830 living in Sculcoates, Hull.

I can't find a birth for Sarah Ann but if she was born in Hull, there are not many records on line, especially after about 1820.

1851 census has Edward Fenton a seed crusher, with wife Mary and 4 children.  Two of them Martha and John were with the family on the 1841 census, two others including Sarah Ann are not on the 1851 census but 2 more born after 1841 are with the family.

1851 census Oxford Street Kingston Upon Hull
Edward Fenton 45 seed crusher
Mary 44
Martha 18
John 11
Rhoda 9
Mary 7

Using new GRO index with mothers maiden name Lowell
John Fenton 1839 (Lowell)
Rhoda 1841 (Lowell)
Mary 1844 (Lowel)

So you may have the correct Sarah although the non conformist baptism of 1827 seems too early.

This daughter may have died and another child given the name Sarah circa 1833
