Henry Kelly 1898
« on: Wednesday 20 February 19 21:38 GMT (UK) »
I have been unsuccessfully trying to trace a Henry Kelly born 10 Jun 1898 Middlesbrough whose parents were Stephen Blyth Kelly and Sarah Elizabeth Stockton.
I found a Henry Kelly who died 2 Aug 1916, born Middlesbroug and enlisted Middlesbrough. His rank was Private in 15 Battalion of Yorkshire Hussars(Alexandra, Princes of WalesOwn). Regimental Number 32627. Death Place shown as Home.
Is there any way to find personnal info re Henry?

If place of death is shown as home - it suggests he died in England

Thanks CarolW
I saw the lichfield registration and suspected that "Home" meant died in England but did not know if military deaths were included in freebmd. Age and place of birth point to this being my guy but how to  tie in?

There is no entry for him on the MRI but you could email the cemetary and ask whether any parents names are shown on the memorial.  Was Lichfield an army base?

His next of kin was Mr S Kelly, 3 William Street, Middlesborough (CWGC entry).

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

His mother was Sarah E Kelly.  His regiment has become a bit garbled.  He was in 15th Battalion Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment) ( known as the Green Howards but also often abbreviated to Yorkshire Regiment) a reserve battalion  stationed in Rugeley which is where he died (Effects register).  The Yorkshire Hussars also shared the title of Princess Alexandra's Own but were a Yeomanry regiment which had only 3 sub units. He does not seem to have served overseas

Not about Henry but.....

Were you aware that father Stephen seems to also have served in WW1? His complete record is online at An....ry. It contains marriage date and birth dates for his children. He appears to have served in France.
