« on: Thursday 21 February 19 11:10 GMT (UK) »
G'day,

Im stuck at present trying to obtain more information on this relative of my wifes.

He was born 25 Mar 1882 Hurlford, Ayrshire.

Parents were Hugh Irvine 1845 to 1904 & Helen Jane Turner 1850 to 1929.

I have details for all his siblings.

Have as far as 1901 Census, when he was still living at home.

Unable to find marriage or death.  Please help.

Hi Joe,

Have you not been able to find James Irvine on 1911 Scotland Census?

James would be approx. 19 years old on 1901 Census....what was his occupation please?

Looby :)

Thanks Joe.
Reason I asked (and I suspected James would be a miner  ;D) is that I have 4 young men -
two brothers on one line of my family and two brothers on the another line -
all miners in the same area (Galston/Hurford)  born circa 1881- 1890 who ended up in mining in Australia. They all left Scotland between 1911-1914 (3 ended up enlisting in AIF in Great War) .

I beileve there were a lot of miners from this area of Ayrshire went to Australia for work .....Just a thought.

Looby :)
