Sarah Smith nee Rix.
« on: Thursday 21 February 19 21:09 GMT (UK) »
Sarah Rix married Thomas Smith on 13 Jan. 1800 at Easton Royal. My target is to find her baptism and where she was born. The 1841 census is not very helpful but in 1851 she was 75 still in Easton and her birthplace is Stanton, Wilts.  St Bernard, St. Quintin and Fitzwarren come to mind but I have found nothing there. Are there other Stantons, perhaps not of parish status? I would be pleased for some guidance. Thanks, Toby.

Returning to this subject after some more hunting and considering any reasonable variation of Rix!
I have found 3 candidates for a Sarah baptism in Wiltshire :-
Stanton St. Bernard. 7/7/1776 Sarah Reeks d/o Thomas & Ann.
Purton                   14/3/1779 Sarah Ricks d/o Richard & Mary (rejected as burial 11/12/1779)
North Bradley         4/6/1780  Sarah Rich d/o  Thomas & Ann.  age 8 3/4  (so born c.1772)

In the 2 cases which remain, there is no sensible marriage in the baptismal parish. On balance therefore Stanton St. Bernard is the most likely which is also not far from Easton. However there was another Rix marriage in Eason  i.e. Nathaniel on 5/5/1806 and there being only 2 marriages there it seems a distinct possibility that Sarah & Nathaniel were brother & sister. No Nathaniel baptism however has been found at Stanton St. Bernard.
I would be grateful for some comment on where next. Would Removal and Settlement orders be an option?  T.
