Old motor bike reg'n VS 94
« on: Friday 22 February 19 09:52 GMT (UK) »
This photo was among a load passed down the family to me.  Any information about the machine and date would be interesting.  No work needed on the image, thanks.

The second attached image of the Husqvarna early motorcycle looks similar to the posted photo.

The VS registration mark would have been issued in Greenock.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Thanks for that, it looks the same as you say.  I like the description ‘motor-velocipede’!
Thanks also for Greenock.

That pair of dates will help to narrow down the possible rider.  Thank you.

It's interesting to see that, according to the text at tonepad's link, motorvelocipede is the ancestor of the word moped. Or did everyone else already know that?

Thank you - and please could you remind me of the site where this date information can be found? I'm sure I've used it before, but all I could find today was that VS was from Greenock.

No site used
Greenocks registrations started in 1903 with the take up of registrations being quite slow for the first two years most places was about 50 per year.
So 94 should be within the first two years.
