1841 Census - Woodhurst, Huntingdonshire.

Thomas Cox   35 Ag. Lab.
Ann Cox 35
William Cox 14
James Cox 12
George Cox 11
Mary Cox 9
John Cox 6
Eliza Cox 3
Emma Cox 4 months

Thomas and Ann shown as not born in Huntingdonshire but all the children were.

GRO's own birth index for baby Emma shows mmn as Neale.

Eliza Cox not with the family in 1851 but checked deaths index and no death registered for her so perhaps working away from home.

So, we have a marriage for a Thomas Cox and Ann Neal 1824 Cambridgeshire and they then move to Woodhurst, Huntingdonshire.   1841 Census shows they did indeed have a daughter named Eliza bc.1837/8.   Seemed too much of a coincidence for it not to be the right family - however, there is absolutely no link to Suffolk.

Found that most of the family went to Australia (Melbourne and Victoria) on the ship Genghis Khan arriving July 1853 - passenger lists show Thomas 46, Ann 45, Emma 12, Joseph 8 and Martha 5 as a group.   Found Eliza 15 with older sister Mary 19 on a separate page.

So Eliza Cox was from Huntingdonshire and not Suffolk.    Passenger lists confirm county as 'Hunts.'

Just found a tree on Ancestry - seems most of the family ended up in Coburg.

And just confirming again the maiden name of Eliza MUNRO's mother, here is the death in Victoria
COX, Ann
Father Thomas NEAL
Mother Elizabeth BENTON
Aged 85
At Coburg
1889/6807

Thomas, her father, died also in 1889.

His mother's name is unknown and father James.
At Coburg
Aged 89
Reg 11418

This couple are buried at Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery as are The MUNRO couple.

In less than 24 hrs I have so much information from not even knowing what Eliza'a mothers maiden name was.

You are all wonderful and I appreciate your help with this puzzle.

I do wonder why she stated she was from Suffolk, but that doesn't matter now.
