That's the family!  Thanks so much for that, hmcc.  Just by giving those names, you have not only confirmed place of residence=place f death, but also John's (James's brother) date of death to between 1875 and 1876-7.  How clever you Chatters are, thanks so much - have a (virtual) drink on me!

As John Paterson was both proprietor and occupier, there will be records in the Registers of Sasines telling you how and when he acquired the property and how and when it changed hands after him and who became the new owner.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
