1911 Census - 652 errors in Birdhill DED??
« on: Saturday 23 February 19 09:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Been searching 1911 Census for relatives in Birdhill, Co Tipperary but couldn't find the place.  Played around and eventually found ALL 652 entries show the DED as 'Birohill'

Makes searching very difficult.

Cheers
LH

I would suppose they had an "input all" field of some nature, so it was 1 error repeated 652 times.

Spelling errors certainly don't help. I couldn't find my Thomas MILBURN on census until I looked through the pages by hand and found Thomas MILLISON with his father John MILLIRON  ::) but the one that took the biscuit was my CARTER family who I eventually found under LEOTA  ::)

Did you do a error report
John Grenham has about about 64% of the corrections done

Unfortunately you can't submit error reports for placenames.

Hi all,
In that site, if you don't get any results...…….
put the first 3 letters in of the word you are searching for with a " * " as the 4th character.
You will get your info.
this applies to any line, eg Michael maybe as Micl or Michl. any spelling will show.
It doesn't always work in other searching sites,  but always worth a try.
