When did you email them?

As soon as I resent the email I got the following reply which may be of interest for those people who may also want to look for Carrick on Shannon workhouse records.

Thank you for your enquiry relating to your ancestor Owen Moraghan who may have died in the Carrick on Shannon Workhouse in 1867.  I have searched the Minutes of the Board of Guardians for 1867 but found no mention of Owen.  The Minutes are mainly concerned with financial transactions and the running of the workhouse though occasionally names are noted in relation to sickness or emigration.  Unfortunately the admissions registers were not preserved for the majority of the Irish workhouses including Carrick On Shannon.  I searched an index to early Leitrim Newspapers for Owen’s name but found nothing of relevance.  I also checked our Local Studies index for information without success.

Sorry to jump in on this thread by I too am researching Owen Moraghan, he had a son Thomas Patrick Moraghan, I do not know Thomas exact birth date but on the 1901 census he had put he was 55 and was born in Roscommon.  On his marriage certificate in 1889 I have his father was Owen Moraghan a dealer deceased.  I have been trying to find out more about Owen for quite a few years. Just wondered if anyone could help in some way.

Thank you

It is a copy of his marriage certificate for Thomas Marriage solemnized at the R.C. Chapel of Drumkeeran, in the Union of Manorhamilton in the County of Leitrim 1889, sorry hope this is what you mean.

Will have a look at this, as I do not know Thomas's siblings or mother, only his father keep
getting conflicting results.  I presume Owen would be born around the 1820's and Thomas
around the 1840's plus.  Thank you
