 looking for birth/ christening register for Alfred Dibben born 1860 Fontmell Dorset 1861 census classed as Grandson of Stephen & rhoda Dibben & 1881 census with Rhoda still classed as Grandson his marriage 1887 to sarah ann Rideout has no fathers name. I would like to know his mothers name some possibilities being Louisa, mary, sarah Dibben  . Thanks lnr

The baptism registers for Fontmel Magna are on the Dorset OPC site. There doesn't appear to be a baptism for Alfred as far as I can see, however there are three other baptisms around the same time to a Hannah Dibben none of whom have a father named that may be of interest. They are as follows:

3rd June 1863      Harry to Hannah Dibben            Abode: Fontmel
25th Dec 1864     Thomas to Hannah Dibben         Abode: Fontmel
30th March 1866  Edward John to Hannah Dibben  Abode: Fontmel Magna

I think from 1871 census Hannah Dibben was the daughter of George and Hannah Dibben and by 1871 she had married Frederick Wareham and they lived with Hannah's parents and her sons John and Thomas Dibben - possibly Harry died 1863
so it doesnt look like they are the same family as Alfred

Could you post the 1841 and 1851 censuses for Stephen & Rhoda Dibben to see possible daughters?

Are these the daughters - Louisa, Mary, Sarah Dibben - if so, birth years please, and have you found marriages for them?

If you Google "Family Search 1841" and "Family Search 1851" you will get workable versions of the census.

I cannot find Rhoda in 1841 but in 1851 the children are John, Louisa, Mary, Sarah, Stephen and Thomas.
