« on: Sunday 24 February 19 23:27 GMT (UK) »
Having trouble on RootsChat I tried to re register on RootsChat but was informed BT internet are blocking emails to RootsChst and  I will have to use another email address.
How on Earth do I do that?
Oh heck, job for number one son I suspect.
Viktoria.

Why would they do that I wonder, there must be hundreds of RCers who use BT email? Have you contacted Sarah to see if she can help?

If not, you could just set up a new email account with one of the free providers and use that just for Rootschat.

Thankyou.
I did get a call last week which I took to be a scam so did nothing.
It was supposedly from BT saying my internet would be disconnected,or words like that.
On my new phone I do not have call guardian as before so I was given a number to ring after such calls and then press 1 and that number would not call again.
I phoned BT but not helpful, said they could not do what I told them was happening, but the message saying  BT were blocking all registrations on RootsChat came
from RootsChat.
I had been registered for almost nine years and only tried to re register because I was having to give my user name and password for everything I
wanted to do ,read emails on RootsChat and send posts.I was being told I could not use that site.
My daughter forwarded a photograph yesterday evening and that was OK.So it does seem to be only RootsChat.
I am going to contact BT again and see if they can help.
Just got the brush off last night.
Sarah has contacted me,but it was difficult as I kept having to type in  my details again for everything.
As you will gather I am not very computer savvy ,my family think I ought not to be let loose on one,but I have not known anything like this before.
Thanks again.
Viktoria.

Viktoria, the advice I'm about to give you will vary depending on which browser you are using. First of all the phone call that you got last week very much sounds like a scam. You should ignore it.

Secondly, when you have to enter your password and username, just below there is a little box with the text "Always stay logged in" . If you click or touch that box it should always remember you. You may additionally get a pop-up saying "do you want your details to be saved" . If you are on your own computer it is safe to say yes to this.

Viktoria please do not register as duplicate member, we just need to try and find out and resolve the problems you are having currently with this profile. I think that you may have cleared your cookies when you were having a tidy up. Did you try not logging out after each visit ?

The problem with btinternet is a problem that is affecting new prospective members who have never used RootsChat before, and not old members or old members updating to new email addresses.

Regards

Sarah

Yes,she had replied,it ought not to affect me ,it seems to be new users wishing to register.
But as I was told the site I wanted to acces was not open to me I thought I would try re registering but then  the message came about BT.
They deny that they are able to do that but Sarah says there is some problem with people wishing to register for the first time.
I think I have compounded the original problem by trying to re register.

However I can not get on to RootsChat without logging in for each action ,
reading messages and sending them ,despite asking to be always logged in.
I will have to leave it to the experts!
I am actually starting to get a persecution complex, someone out there does not like me!
I am going to commit an error of grammar—someones- out there does not like me.
Cheerio,maybe for the last time, :'( :'( :'(

Viktoria, I've told her that every day for 29 years but I will pass on your confirmation.
