Hello All.
Im looking for information from Ireland please.

William Townsend born in 1827 in County Cork....possibly in Gortroe and his wife Mary Townsend (nee Morris) born in 1845. Also in County Cork.

Their son William Richard Townsend came to South Africa but there Im stuck. Thank you.

Here is William Richard’s birth in Gortroe as you say. William snr is a Teacher in Sligo.

The informant at W R’s birth was Johanna Townsend.

Griffiths Valuation http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ shows a Johanna Townsend in Gortroe leasing land from a John Morris.

Oh that's brilliant....thank you. Johanna might have been Williams mother then?! And who knows who John Morris is!! Id dearly love to find further details on William and Mary though....marriage /death records. Ive been told the best way to do Irish research is to go to the churches in the relevant places. Obviously I cant do that though.  Thank you again.

Civil records began 1864 with non-catholic marriages in 1845 so your people should be in civil records for a marriage.

In 1891 the family is living in Bristol.  William is a retired English and Mathematical teacher.
