Thomas and Hannah Messenger
« on: Monday 25 February 19 21:01 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I hope someone can help me trace Thomas and Hannah Messenger.

Thomas was born about 1823 Stokenchurch Oxon, and Hannah was born about 1833 West Bromwich according to the 1861 Census and all the children I have are born in Stokenchurch.

I'm trying to find out Hannah's maiden name and where and when they married. One of their sons is called Walter Stanton Messenger, could this be Hannah's maiden name?
I have looked at freebmd but to no avail.

Thanks  any help appreciated.

Hello

If they had any children after late 1837 it's possible to look up the mothers maiden name on the General Register Office site.

When was Walter born?  It could be that Stanton was his mothers maiden name as you suggest.

I see Walter is 0 on the 1861 census and found this birth registration.

Walter Stanton Messenger Jun 1861 Wycombe registration district

Mothers maiden name Stanton so you are quite correct  :)

Daughter Catherine Hannah who is 2 in 1861 also has mothers maiden name Stanton for her birth registration in Dec 1858 Wycombe

and there is a Jane Elizabeth Jun 1857 who may have been another child who died that same year.

Not finding a marriage yet.

There is another Ann bapt 1832 but she is the daughter of William and Ann and with them on the 1861 census.
