Welcome to rootschat cnash31.

Any matches you have from DNA tests, or any ethnicity results only compare with others in their database who have also tested, rather than the entire population. It can be an indication, but don't take too much notice of it - the results do change over time.
Do you have an extensive family tree? Do you know anything about the origins of your 3 and 4 x Great grandparents?
Perhaps there could be one Spanish/Hispanic person in your ancestry several generations ago that you were not aware of?
I have a Jewish gggrandmother and am getting a
lot of Jewish matches - ethnicity estimate around 7% to 9%. (I believe that a lot of Jewish people take DNA tests hoping to discover more about their roots, which may explain why I have so many Jewish matches and fewer for other parts of my ancestry).
What percentages of Hispanic do you have? What percentages of Spanish? You could still be dark skinned with one 3xgreat grandparent.
When you say you have a lot of 3rd to 4th cousin matches, how many is a lot?
There are plenty of others with more knowledge on the subject who I'm sure will be able to offer you a better explanation, but that is my take on it.
