Looks like Arthur Leslie died in 1973.  His obituary is available for a fee from this site. 
Seems likely that you are pursuing the wrong Arthur L and that yours had a middle name of Leonard and not Leslie.

Well I have had a look at the 1973 obit for Arthur Leslie Hardy and he is not my Arthur L Hardy who appears in the 1921 census. Although he did marry Thelma Degaust he was born abt 1912 in Calgary  and he was survived by his mother Mrs A Hardy. My guy was born abt 1919 in Camrose and his mother was Kate who died in 1960 in Burnaby. That accounts for the discrepancy of Thelma saying her husband was dead and Sidney saying his brother was alive.
I made a bad mistake assuming Arthur L was Arthur Leslie.
