British Army service records lookup please c1800

Hello,

I didn't really think about that before but good question, could Sponsor Robert Carey be an older son? Robert Carey would have been 50 when James was born and Ann about 39. I have Ann on the 1841 near Southampton with James and his family. I have done a little research on his regiments and it looks like he went to the West Indies in 1890 with the 21st and transferred to the 59th whilst there before returning in late 97 invalided. It sounds like disease was rife over there. Would his family have gone with him or would they have stayed in the UK, any ideas? I need to try and find births of siblings to James somehow, there most likely were more children i'd have thought.

I'm trying to find Robert Carey born Ireland c1765? I know from his sons baptism records that he was at that time (1804) in the 3rd Royal Garrison Battalion in Jersey.

Are you reconsidering his approximate birth year?

I took from a quick read that it depended on where the regiment was bound. Soldiers were discouraged from taking children to West Indies.

Yes, I am reconsidering his birth year as I was going by the age of his wife until I knew otherwise.
I'm sure that this is him. He dies in Southampton in 1820.
I would have been surprised given the amount of disease in the West Indies at this time if families had been encouraged to accompany soldiers, especially just a private. It's a long time to be away though. I wonder if he and Ann had children before his 1790 posting to St Vincent. I only have my James in 1804 to this couple.

I am sure thats him, age fits and it is in the St Michaels parish which is where James and Ann were living on the 41.

I've found the Keary reference! It's on the previous image, from a slip of paper.
Which says
Robert Keary, Private, embarked 10 October
1793, and was Effective in the West Indies
with 21st and 59th Regiments  to 1797, when he
was sent to England.

gist again, not a long document
Robert Kerrey - Private Soldier, having been ordered by the Commissioners of Chelsea General Fox to the Independent Company of Invalids, commanded by Major Cashells
the 11th Day of October 1797 after being discharged for 24 Years Service in the 59th Regiment
of Foot then commanded by Col? Genl Lindsay

goes on to say that he had served in the above company for 5 years
received clothing/pay to 24 May 1802
and dated/signed that day at Berwick, Wm Cashell, Major

On the reverse it says
Robt Kerry
aged 48
served 4 (may be a half there) + 24 (in) others
Worn out...

Queens Co
a Labourer
