Screensaver in Windows 10
« on: Tuesday 26 February 19 13:52 GMT (UK) »
I am not sure when it stopped working but the screensaver function does not work.   I've looked at the settings and they're as I would expect, but whatever inactivity period I set the screensaver never kicks in.

Anyone else with Win10 seeing this ??

Yes, I've had it on and off for a year or two. I gave up trying to get to the bottom of it. I do find that if I change the timeout duration it then works alright for a few days and then fails to cut in. Off Topic, I've also noticed that the screensaver often cuts out as a result of vibrations from buses passing in the street.

I have tried extensively to find out how to fix this problem with no success.

Martin,

Thanks, Ive tried changing the timeout periods to no avail.

It will be another Microsoft no cost feature   :)

I will follow this as I'm sure we're not the only ones with the problem and perhaps somebody else has had more luck in finding a solution.

Never used the "screensaver" but I do lock the screen every time I leave any of the computers unattended.

It is at its worst when an empty bus goes past.  I did get the council to re-lay a stretch of the road a few years ago, but the problem has come back.  I blame Microsoft.

Odd you should mention passing traffic Martin as a similar thing happens to my broadband, and much as I'd love to blame m$ I think in this instance they're not guilty.

I have a powerline/homeplug setup to give me bb & wifi throughout the house and I'm taking a structured approach in an attempt to isolate the problem before making a fool of myself with my isp.  At the moment it looks as if my normal electrical ring main might be to blame.

Years ago I was responsible for work IT.  We used to set an old dot matrix printer with continuous stationery to print a very very long report.  The printer kept throwing carriage returns, causing the lining up to go wrong.  We suspected that it happened every time the kettle boiled, but it turned out that it happened every time the lift docked on our floor.
