Crosse,...Marriage... Chacombe 1597 "Completed"

Can any one help ?

Wanted..marriage of Steven Crosse/Cross to Alice, Abt. 1597 ish, prob. Chacombe or environs.

Steven  Crosse b.1566 Chacombe, their first child? bapt 1598 Chacombe. Moved to Little Bourton, Cropredy, Oxon. His will of 1610 says wife is Alice.  I am on Anc. and you can view the registers for Chacombe but cant seem to find marriages, are they missing or have I missed them?

Hi Speedway,

From the Northants Marriage Index, there is a Steven Crosse marrying an Alice Worrall on 10 Feb 1594/5 at Chacombe.

But like you, I can't find any early marriages in what is online at Ancestry. But the entry must be somewhere, or it wouldn't have ended up in the Index! The list of PR's that the Northants RO holds lists marriages for Chacombe 1566-1976, and what's on Ancestry purports to cover from 1566, but while I can find baptisms and burials on there, I cannot find any early marriages at all.

Not for the first time ANCs claims do not match what is actually available online, Why the marriages are missing I do not know.

Bit more difficult this one.......Steven Crosse was bapt 1566, Chacombe, which is when the surviving registers start...soooo I wonder is there is any possibility the marriage for his father John Crosse is recorded ?... a long shot I know.
