William Wilson Marriage Certificate (WW1 Regiment)
« on: Tuesday 26 February 19 22:30 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to work out the regiment listed on this marriage cert for my grt grandfather. Looks like Sapper 2nd Highland ..... can't make out the last part. Sadly his army records doesn't survive only his Naval record so this is the only way I can think to find this information.

Certainly Royal Engineers ( R E) as the regiment, possibly 2nd Highland Division which included some Royal Engineers units.

Looks like a Sapper to me, from the Internet a soldier responsible for tasks such as building and repairing roads and bridges, laying and clearing mines, etc.
