I am looking for any information on John James Phillips b 1830 son of Robert and Elizabeth in the Portsea area. Last info I have is him on 1841 census aged 11. any assistance greatly appreciated.David

Hi could he be the John Phillips 20  b Portsea with parents Robert and Elizabeth on HO107/1657/173/17
1851 Census?

Possible death in 1899;  John James Phillips (b 1830) Portsea Island, Hampshire.

Possible marriage in 1856, Portsea

1881 census, grocer in  Stone Street, Portsea with wife Elizabeth and 4 children.

1891census Pensioned Sawyer Dockyard, living in Victoria Street.
Howard , Viney , Kingsman, Pain/e, Rainer/ Rayner, Barham, George, Wakeling (Catherine), Vicary (Frederick)   all LDN area/suburbs  Ottley/ MDX,
Henman/ KNT   Gandy/LDN before 1830  Burgess/LDN

I have looked on the 1851 census but cannot find that record keyboard86 on The Genealogist.
Can you give me more detail of the search you used? The HO number does not mean anything to me unfortunately..its a senior thing! David

John James Phillips (pensioned sawyer from HM Portsmouth dockyard) of 37 Victoria Street, died 15 October 1899, left a Will; Probate granted to Elizabeth, widow.

Hi I do not know the workings of The Genealogist, have you tried Familysearch to find census returns?

Thank you all for your help. I have not tried FamilySearch for census records, did not know they had census records, thought they only birth, marriage, death or residence..? david
