« on: Wednesday 27 February 19 13:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi  :)

One of my relatives worked as  assistant matron at St Swithins house, Bank street , Lincoln,

this was in 1898.

I have googled about , but apart from ref to it being a listed building,

I cannot find anything on what it was.

all help gratefully received.

St Swithin's at that time was a home for ' fallen women"  and those in a "precarious" situation.

It's what I remember being told many years ago by Grandparents.
Also it could have been under the Mary Magdalen Homes if that's any help for searching.
I know it didn't have an age barrier or single sex rules.
That's all I know, sorry I'm not much help.

Hello Eilleen, Peter Higginbotham's website 'Children's Homes' has an entry for St Swithin's under Magdalen Homes. You have to scroll down to the section for Lincs.
