Jessie Charlotte Ramm
« on: Thursday 28 February 19 16:36 GMT (UK) »
Desperately seeking Jessie!!!

Born 1865 - seems to be from an affluent family as of 'independent means;
Living in London 1891
In 1892 is in the Isle of Wight saying she is married to a Henry Barlow, and she gives birth to Honor Gladys Helen Barlow, and in 1894 still in Isle of Wight to Henry VanIke Barlow.

1901 she is a widow in Hastings with Gladys.

Next record is 1939 still in Hastings
Dies 1942 in Bournemouth.  Have found a newspaper clipping looking for heirs.

No birth certificate. No marriage certificate. No death certificate for Henry VanIke.
Cannot find her in 1871 and 1881 or 1911.

Her daughter Honor Gladys is an actress in Southampton in 1911, marries in 1912 and then sadly is committed to an asylum in 1919 until her death in 1947.

Possible Red Herrings...
There is a Jessie Barlow in London 1911 with her mother Jane Ramm but she is a lodging house keeper born in Yorkshire in 1860 (although the mother was born in Norfolk... I wondered if they had transposed the birth details.... )
There is another Jessie C Barlow in 1939 born 1870 living in Bridport which is close to Bournmouth... could this be her..?

TIA for any assistance.
Beeson from Buckinghamshire
Freer from Leicestershire

Heffer from Surrey
Randall from Sussex
Robinson from Hinckley
Wadey from Sussex

Yes, it is down as Janet in the 1901, but I assumed it was her because Gladys and IoW are correct.  This lead me to think that the Bessie still in Hadtings in 1939 was the same one.

Yes that is when she is living in Bloomsbury London... so the Norfolk birth is consistent.

There is a JESSE baptised in Tittleshall, Norfolk in 1866 but it doesn't say whether it is male or female....parents are John and Mary Ramm.  But I don't think that this is right as 1861 has John and Mary Ramm and their infant son Jesse in Tittleshall, and the GRO have a Jesse Ramm (male) being born in 1860

Not sure if this is related, but there's a Henry Barlow of Glencairn, Beckford Road, West Cowes, master mariner, who dies 12 March 1896 in Naples. problem is his widow is called Mary Ann
