Not sure if this is related, but there's a Henry Barlow of Glencairn, Beckford Road, West Cowes, master mariner, who dies 12 March 1896 in Naples. problem is his widow is called Mary Ann

I found that too - and he has a son also called Henry - but the wedding of Henry Jr would be too early for my Henry VanIke and also it mentions that Henry's sisters were bridesmaids but the names didn't match... I can only find the 2 children born in IoW of Barlow/Ramm union.

On their daughter's birth cert it has him of 'independent means'..... and on her baptism he is a Commission merchant.  His middle name is recorded as Vanille but that could be Vanike like the son.
I don't think he is the Mariner..?

I now have birth certs for both children. 
They were both born in George St, Ryde IOW (one lists Walrond Cottage -I have checked the 1891 census and this seems to be the home of Dr T Buck and his wife)
I've gone with the fact that she is the Jessie Charlotte Ramm born in Doncaster, and I have tracked her parents Henry Ramm and Jane Harvey who came from Norfolk,  and her siblings.
However the one missing link is the marriage details, when and where, to Henry Vanike Barlow!
