Stott in Oldham
« on: Friday 01 March 19 08:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone, while looking back over one of my ancestors recently i discovered a second marriage and wondered if anyone could help me find more information about these two people after the marriage.

My direct ancestor is Sarah Fitton, daughter of Joseph Fitton and Mary nee Wood born in oldham in 1853. She married John Kelly but at some stage was widowed with only one child, james william kelly. In 1895 she married with the following details;

15th August 1895 at Oldham Parish Church. Groom Robert Stott aged 44, Stonemason Journeyman of 3 Trent street. Father John Stott, Waste Dealer. Bride Sarah Kelly widow aged 42 of 147 Horsedge Street. Father Joseph Fitton, labourer.

Please could anyone help, any information after the marriage would help but ideally im looking for Sarah's grave if possible.

Thank you, luke

I wonder if she is buried in a local churchyard. I can’t see a burial for her or Robert in the cemetery records.
Her parents are in Chadderton cemetery.

Not sure if this is relevant or just coincidence, having seen 1901 census record.

From GRO Index.
Births. James Stott, Dec 1894, Albert Stott, Jun 1898, Harry Stott, Sep 1902. All registered Oldham, MMN Fitton

In 1901 James William Kelly was living at 3 Back Regent Street in Oldham with his wife Elizabeth Jane Kelly and 2 children, Mary Elizabeth & Sarah Ann.

Thanks for all you help with this everyone!

I've ordered the death certificate for Sarah.

It seems odd that Sarah’s address is Ashton Road so not sure it is her. Hopefully the death certificate will be of help.
