Henry Charles Wilson b 5 Mar 1884 London
« on: Friday 01 March 19 11:44 GMT (UK) »
The above was the son of John Joseph Wilson and Sarah Jane Healey; he married Esther Dorothy Jauncey (b 18 Nov 1888 Worcester, Worcestershire) Q3 1918 at Eastbourne, they emigrated to Canada but don't know when and at 1921 were at 18 Marion St, Parkdale, Toronto. During the years 1940-1942 they were living at 27 Hillyer Street, Orange, USA but by 19 Jan 1944 they were crossing the border from Canada to USA to visit.
They had 2 daughters, Barbara N Wilson bc 1920 Toronto and Patricia Colette Wilson 20 Apr 1923-2 Nov 2000 passed away in Oklahoma City and was married to Frederick Henry Strothmann but don't know when or where.
Can't find the records for the family after 1944 except for the little bit about Patricia, so would be interested to know more about them all please.

The 1944 border crossing is a little dark to read but it looks like last permanent address was in Sudbury Ontario - the 29 Hillyer Street Orange Essex NJ is mentioned but does it say "home" ?

Wilson is such a common surname ..............

Looks like Henry served with the Canadian Expeditiary Force in WW1. His complete military record is at the link below. Click on PDF part way down to open the file. It will be very slow to load.

https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/first-world-war/personnel-records/Pages/item.aspx?IdNumber=320251

WW2 draft registration has him living in Hillyer St Orange New Jersey. Esther is at the same address.

Added: this looks like the family in the 1921 Canada census....

They are in New Jersey in the 1930 census. They state they immigrated in 1925, so not long after Patricia's birth, apparently.

Living at 51 Carleton St East Orange NJ

Henry C 46 b. England Copy Chief in Advertising
Esther D 41 b. England
Barbara M 9 b. Canada English
Patricia C 6 b. Canada English

That 1944 border crossing document is certainly hard to read. I believe it does say Sudbury as last residence. A couple of thoughts.....

They were just there for a short visit and returning home.
Or
They actually lived there for some part of the time between the 1930 and 1940 censuses, although Esther does say she had lived in the US from 1926 until the date of crosssing.
