Havana House, Mill St, Whitchurch, Shropshire
« on: Friday 01 March 19 18:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello Everyone - just wondering if anyone knew anything about Havana House in Mill St, Whitchurch - my relative died there in 1935 but I do not know what she was doing there - whether it was a private house, a house with several rented rooms, some sort of poor accommodation (but it looks rather grand for that!) ...

I have searched Google and found the house on the British Listed Buildings website, but not much more info than that.

I have attached a photo ...

Many thanks, Nina

Hi,

In 1939 three families are listed as living in Havana House. As the house has three floors it would seem likely that it was split into three apartments.

Wellington Journal 18 May 1907 - there is an advert for combined rooms furnished or unfurnished to let in Havana House.

Thanks for the info JJ - very interesting.  Now all I need to find out is why she ended up in Whitchurch when all the family were London based!!! Thanks again, Nina
