Who was Eliza born Beck Row, Suffolk 1842?

Can anyone help me identify Eliza?

The only mention I can find of her is on 1881 census where she was living in Newmarket, Suffolk with her husband William Gerrish, boarding with the Finch family.  William Gerrish was born in 1840 in Devizes, Wiltshire.  I can't find their marriage or anything else about Eliza.

William died in 1896 in Chelsea Registration district.

Any help much appreciated.

Have you found William on earlier censuses?

Where is he in 1891?  Is Eliza with him?

Freebmd has several possible marriages of a William Gerrish to an Elizabeth/Eliza between 1871 - 1881

Marriages Dec 1874 
Gerrish    William        Bradford, W.    5a   271   
Harding    Elizabeth         Bradford, W.    5a   271

They had a child Alice Rhoda Gerrish  baptised  4 Jul 1877, Bradford Upon Avon, Wiltshire.
Alice died later that month.

There is an Elizabeth Harden registered New Market 1843 with mothers maiden name Miller

I decided to try again with the elusive William and Eliza so I ordered William's death certificate.  He died on 11 May 1896 at the Chelsea Workhouse Infirmary.  His rank was general labourer of Beauclere Buildings, Chelsea (I believe these were on College Place).  The informant was his brother Thomas.

One interesting additional bit of information was his given name, William GERRISH otherwise COOPER.  I've searched again with this new information but still nothing conclusive.  The census information I have so far for William is:

1841 - Devizes - with parents
1851 - Speenhamland, Berkshire - with parents and siblings
1861 - not found but both parents have now died and two of his brothers, one being Thomas are in the workhouse in Devizes
1871 - not found
1881 - Newmarket with Eliza
1891 - not found.

The 1881 census is still the only record I have for Eliza, Beck Row is near Mildenhall, Suffolk.

Anyway I thought I'd add these new details just in case.
