BRISTOW DNA matches sought - possible NPE
« on: Saturday 02 March 19 10:08 GMT (UK) »
Because of an absence of DNA matches and a proliferation of people who ON PAPER are descended from the same stock, I suspect that Robert Edward BRISTOW was not the biological father of my GGM Emma Eliza, despite what it says on her 1866 birth cert.

In an effort to prove/disprove this theory, I would like to make contact with anyone who has taken a DNA test AND can trace their descent, via both paper trail and DNA, from Robert Bristow bap 1815 in Mortlake, Surrey (that's the father of Robert Edward) or that Robert's father, another Robert bap around 1777 in Southrop, Gloucestershire.  I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who thought they had Bristow roots in Gloucestershire and has taken a DNA test and failed to confirm those roots.

The surname is sometimes spelled with a "e" on the end and I have also come across variants where the "w" turns into an "l" - presumably to do with the people from GLS having an accent that was alien to Londoners.

As far as I'm aware Emma Eliza was an only child.

Jane :-)
